It’s increasingly difficult to live in an environment (The United States) where many collectively feel like life has always been this posh, and we deserve it…and THOSE PEOPLE are trying to steal it all away, and murder our way of life.
So many individuals whose greatest hardship in life was that they grew up lower middle class, and sometimes didn’t get toys for Christmas, think that’s on par with living in a country where hundreds of thousands are murdered annually, for any number of reasons, and there is zero chance of protection or justice or any such things.
If your first and greatest reaction to seeing babies tear-gassed is that it’s disgusting that those parents are using their babies as shields, just so they can illegally get in our country and steal our jobs and rape our womenfolk – I’m sorry, I can’t think of a more gentle way to say that you have a fucking problem with your brain. A big fucking problem.
(not a problem that will be fixed by name calling on social media, but this is really just me venting – not trying to change the world…)
We can have issues with our immigration policies, problems with our laws and enforcement…. AND we can simultaneously be against babies being torn away from their families to be housed in randomly numbered holding units AND we can be against violence of any kind towards those kids.
It’s ok to be complex and have more than 2 dimensions to the core of who you are. It’s ok to disagree and have discussions – but if you merge into the conglomerated monster of politics to any degree, on any side – and you forget humanity and compassion as core tenets of your existence and how you treat others – you, at best, are worthless in my eyes. And that’s the BEST case scenario.
And don’t even get me started on those individuals who chose to wear the ‘Christian’ label – who already pick and choose which passages of their holy book to admire/follow/believe – who are now doing their best to embody the exact opposite characteristics and behavior of the man-god they hold to be the absolute epitome of all their beliefs and values and life goals…
I’m angry, sad, disgusted, cynical…and the worst part is – I’m not surprised.
I’m the sensical turtle, and I’m thankful so many other areas of the world are leading with compassion and love and openness.
